Medicine in the Andean World

Rimaykullayki turay ñañay kuna
(Loving greetings, brothers and sisters)

Hampiq is a Quechua word that means healer; a man or woman of medicine.

It represents the third level of consciousness out of 9 levels that a human being must walk through in the path of the evolution of consciousness.

Pisac is a town where you will find many Hampiq, or facilitators of master plants and different types of therapies.

In the Andean world, being a Hampiq is a recognition given to those who embody certain qualities:

  1. Their path has led them to heal themselves. You cannot heal others if you have not healed yourself first.
  2. They honor the lineage that gave them the knowledge of their medicine — their teachers, guides, and spiritual path — and they have at least 4 years of practice.
  3. They practice with responsibility and ethics. They offer medicine in appropriate spaces, honoring the process and the trust of those who seek them.
  4. They have social awareness: they actively contribute to the wellbeing of the local community and biodiversity. They are not extractivist.

Before choosing a service for your health, inform yourself, ask for recommendations…

And remember: the best advisor is your heart!

Tupananchiscama, turay ñañaycuna. See you soon! Brothers and sisters!
